Measuring the Impact of Disease Management on Clinical Testing in Health Disparity Zones

picGaps in quality of healthcare exist across the entire nation and there is growing evidence that there is even greater disparity for people of specific race or ethnicity, age, gender, socioeconomic, or educational status. People experiencing health disparity are less likely to be under appropriate clinical management and, therefore, are more likely to have poor disease control. The purpose of this study was to examine populations participating in the current Healthways diabetes disease management program to: (1) identify members living in areas of health disparity and (2) evaluate the ability of this program to improve the quality of care within health disparity zones.
