Apply Science
Strategic partnerships and internal experts—scientists, psychologists, researchers, and experienced physicians—help us build and refine the most effective solutions.
Deep Behavior Change Expertise
Our partnership with Pro-Change® Behavior Systems and its founder, Dr. James O. Prochaska, infuses all of our solutions with fully developed behavior change science. We use strategic change processes and influence stages of change, decisional balance, self-efficacy, and interrelated behaviors.
Insights in Behavioral Economics
HealthHonors, a Healthways company, pioneered the successful use of personalized reinforcement strategies to improve medication adherence while reducing incentive costs. Healthways is applying these strategies to other behaviors.
Evidence-Based Interventions
Our interventions reflect evidence-based medicine—the best scientifically accepted practices in specific circumstances, including the management of chronic conditions. Our accreditations support the rigor and quality of our standards..
Outcomes Research
The Healthways Center for Health Research employs statisticians, healthcare economists, and researchers from all health disciplines. Our annual research agenda evaluates our solution outcomes in depth and explores important questions of well-being improvement for industry-wide benefit. Visit Science-Based Outcomes to read our published articles and reports.
Advanced Modeling and Analytics
With the Boston Consulting Group, Healthways developed, tested, and refined a Simulation Model to project the onset of disease based on demographic and interrelated risk factors and to value the impact of behavior change and risk reduction over time. The Wellness App uses elements of the Simulation Model to help organizations forecast costs and take preventive action.
Patent Protected Diagnostic and Disease Management Processes
Under our First Opinion® and Second Opinion® registered
trade names, Healthways owns and licenses patents covering automated methods to
identify the cause of health related problems and provide disease management,
including patient education and monitoring.
